I still get excited every time I get the chance to capture a wedding like Natalie and Brett’s. Their elopement in Bath was everything they hoped for—quiet, intimate, and full of heart. No big crowds, no rush—just the two of them, exchanging vows in one of Bath’s hidden gems, Beckford’s Tower and Museum
Why Beckford’s Tower ?
When Natalie and Brett chose Beckford’s Tower as their wedding venue, they knew it was the perfect fit for their small, personal ceremony. What makes Beckford’s Tower so special —it’s tucked away in a peaceful, historic setting that perfectly suits couples looking for something low-key and unique. The couple chose it without ever seeing it in person, which added to the special, exciting vibe of the day.
“We loved everything about our venue. We picked it without ever seeing it in person, and honestly, I highly recommend doing that! It made the day feel even more special.”
The venue offers three unique ceremony locations: the top of the tower, inside the museum room, or outside under the entrance arch. We initially thought the top of the tower would be the ideal spot, but with limited space for all of us, we changed the ceremony location for the outdoor o under the entrance arch. The weather was perfect, and it turned out to be exactly what Natalie and Brett wanted—simple, personal, and full of character and perfect for photography .
Beckford’s Tower Wedding Photos
As a wedding photographer in Bath, I love exploring new venues that offer both history and beautiful nature and Beckford’s Tower certainly didn’t disappoint. Before the wedding, I took the time to visit and scout out the best photo spots. The venue has a fantastic mix of beautiful architecture, outdoor spaces, and far-reaching views, which is perfect wedding photos.
The ceremony itself was emotional and full of meaning—just as Natalie and Brett had hoped. After exchanging vows, we had time to wander around and take portraits, making the most of the beautiful surroundings. We climbed to the top of the tower (well worth it for the panoramic views), explored the museum, and took more photos outside, capturing the essence of their day it was a joy .
After the ceremony, Natalie and Brett enjoyed a cozy dinner at Clayton’s Kitchen before going back to their hotel, The Gainsborough Bath Spa. But as they walked through the streets of Bath, something completely unexpected happened—Bath was empty. With England playing a major football match that night, the city was completely empty. There were no tourists, no crowds—just the two of them, hand in hand, walking through Bath in their wedding clothes.
“It felt surreal—walking through Bath in our wedding finery with not a soul to be seen! We are both introverts, so we couldn’t have planned it better.”
Natalie and Brett’s Wedding Planning Tips
Natalie and Brett kept their wedding day simple, focusing on what felt right for them. Here are a few pieces of advice they shared for couples planning their own small wedding /elopement:
Make it about you: Don’t worry about pleasing anyone else. The day is yours to enjoy.
Keep it simple: It makes the entire process much less stressful.
Pre-book your transport: Beckford’s Tower has no mobile signal, so be sure to have your transport sorted ahead of time.
For organizing, they used Bridebook, but quickly found it wasn’t ideal for an elopement. A simple spreadsheet for budgeting worked much better for them.
