Why Georgie & Maz chose Ufton Court Barn in Reading

Outdoor and Indoor Ceremony Options

“We loved the outside space, but knowing England, we also wanted somewhere with a nice indoor refuge too! The barn’s natural vibe was perfect for dancing. We both love nature, so getting married outside was the dream, and we were lucky enough to enjoy a sunny day as well.”

One of the best things about Ufton Court is how flexible it is. You’ve got the gorgeous walled garden for an outdoor ceremony, but if it rains, the rustic barn with its exposed beams is a perfect backup. The staff were professional yet laid-back, creating a relaxed atmosphere where you don’t feel rushed or overwhelmed on your big day. Georgie and Maz added their own touches — fairy lights from @oakwoodevents and wildflowers — which made the space feel even more personal.

Georgie & Maz's Wedding Story at Ufton Court

The Morning Prep

Maz started getting ready at 9 am at Ufton Court, while Georgie was already dressed and ready to go. The morning had a calm, happy energy with no stressful running around, which set the tone for the rest of the day. Evie Smith (@evies_makeup) did an amazing job on the makeup and hair.

'' Evie was so lovely and really respected everyone’s style while making us all look great!" Maz

The Ceremony & Group Photos

By 12 pm, everyone was seated in the garden, ready for Georgie and Maz to say their vows. Maz’s mum included a special touch with a Scottish handfasting ceremony — an ancient Celtic tradition where the couple's hands are bound together with cords or ribbons, symbolizing their union and commitment.

After the ceremony, we stayed in the garden for group shots — starting with everyone, then moving to family and wedding party group shots. All done in about 20 minutes. After that, the guests and family headed off for reception drinks by the barn while I stayed back with Georgie and Maz for some relaxed couple portraits. They then had time to mingle with family and friends — everything felt really laid-back .

Confetti and Wedding Breakfast

At 2:30 pm, we gathered outside the barn for the confetti toss — such a fun moment — before heading straight into the barn for the wedding breakfast. the catering by Total Hospitality (@total_hospitalityltd) was next level.

“Our caterers were particularly fantastic - not only was the food delicious but they also actively sought out people with dietary requirements to make sure that they were well fed and cared for - which we know isn't common at other weddings, and everyone really appreciated it - so that was awesome!.”

The wedding breakfast started at 2:45 pm, followed by two speeches before dessert at 4:30 pm. After dessert, three more speeches took place around 5 pm.

Dancing and Cake

Georgie and Maz skipped the formal first dance and started dancefloor with the ceilidh dance @bowreedceilidh

“We knew we wanted something that would get everyone involved, and the ceilidh was perfect for that.”

Just before the dancing began, they cut their cake from Mortimer Cake Company (@the_mortimer_cake_company) — that tasted as amazing as it looked.

Wedding Planning Tips from Georgie & Maz

Stay True to What You Want

Don't let other people stress you out! Just plan out what matters to you, and have fun around the people that you love to hang out with, and enjoy it!

Plan Ahead for Vendors

Hair and makeup artists, caterers — they all book up early, especially in summer. Lock them in early

Stay on Top of Deadlines

"Realising that you have to be on top of any deadlines because you might not get reminders (e.g., numbers of guests, payment, etc.)."

Use Helpful Tools

They used WithJoy for RSVPs and guest management, which made everything much easier.

“It’s free and easy to use — totally recommend it!”
