Emily and Jamie’s Wedding at Silk Mill in Frome
Emily and Jamie’s wedding at the Silk Mill in Frome was full of personality and creativity. From the decor to the food, every detail reflected what mattered most to them.
Emily brought her artistic talent to the day by designing and sewing fabric panels to decorate the barn and ceremony area. These unique pieces added a personal and meaningful touch, making the space truly theirs. They kept much of their wedding planning local, which not only supported their community but also created a day filled with friendly faces and warm connections.
“For wedding planning, we either did it ourselves—like the decor and tables—or we kept it mostly local,” Emily and Jamie shared. “The bar was run by one of our favourite pubs in Frome, and the evening band was one we discovered playing at the Frome Independent Market. Hakko House provided amazing food, which our guests couldn’t stop raving about.
We also had a brass band, More is More, that we first heard at a gig in Hackney back in 2019. We were so happy they could travel all the way from London to be part of our day. By keeping things local and personal, it really felt like the celebration was an extension of us, with lots of friendly faces making it all the more special.”
This personal approach, combined with Emily’s creative vision and the couple’s shared values, made their wedding at Silk Mill a day to remember.
The First Day: Intimate Ceremony at Bath Guildhall
The wedding celebrations began with a small and intimate ceremony at Bath Guildhall, attended by close family and friends. Emily and Jamie’s love story started with a chance meeting in Hackney. Their first date was a pub crawl in their favourite spots around Hackney, and since then, they’ve spent nearly every day together. From the very start, they felt at ease with each other, constantly laughing and enjoying little dances in the kitchen. Their day was all about keeping things natural and candid—just like their relationship.
After the ceremony, the couple enjoyed relaxed drinks at a local wine bar before heading to Babington House for some downtime. Emily and Jamie’s wedding weekend truly reflected their creative and laid-back spirits, setting the tone for what was to come the next day.
Getting Ready at Babington House
The morning of their wedding day began at Babington House, a stunning venue tucked away in the Somerset countryside. Emily was getting ready in one of Babington’s retro-style suites, while Jamie was getting ready just around the corner with his friends. The atmosphere was fun and full of excitement.
Outdoor Ceremony at Silk Mill
The outdoor blessing at the Silk Mill was full of personality and surprises. A brass band made a lively entrance, setting the tone with upbeat, feel-good music. The ceremony ended on a high note as Emily and Jamie walked through a cascade of colourful petal confetti—an energetic and joyful moment that had everyone smiling.
Candid Moments and Group Shots
After the confetti moment, I focused on capturing candid interactions—guests hugging, congratulating the couple, and soaking in the lively atmosphere. With musicians playing in the background, these moments felt natural and fun.
About 30-40 minutes later, we moved on to the group shots. The couple had a list ready, and we kept it quick, wrapping up within 15-20 minutes to maintain the day’s relaxed vibe.
Couple Portraits at Silk Mill
For Emily and Jamie’s portraits, we spent around 20 minutes exploring Silk Mill’s unique spaces. While the venue has limited areas for portraits, its textured backdrops and greenery provided the perfect setting. I focused on capturing their interactions rather than posed moments, keeping everything authentic and natural.
Reception Drinks and Sushi
Guests enjoyed reception drinks at an outdoor bar, alongside an incredible sushi Inspired by Japanese cuisine, the couple’s love for Japan was woven into the day, blending seamlessly with the creative rustic details of the venue.
Golden Hour Magic
The day was mostly overcast, but just before sunset, we caught a brief moment of golden light. We quickly found a spot to make the most of it, capturing warm, natural portraits in just 10-15 minutes. It’s all about being patient and ready for those unexpected moments that turn into something special.
Speeches and Evening
The evening continued with heartfelt speeches, starting with the father of the bride and followed by Jamie and his best man, George. The lively atmosphere carried on into the night, with music and dancing rounding out the celebration.
Emily and Jamie’s wedding at Silk Mill was exactly what they had envisioned—creative, relaxed, and full of joy. Their wedding weekend was a true reflection of their personalities, and I was honoured to be a part of it.
