The Crowcombe Court in Somerset was a dream wedding venue for me to photograph. Its stunning 18th-century architecture, beautiful rooms, and cozy fireplace create the perfect ambiance for a winter celebration. When Sammie and Austin chose to tie the knot there in December, with a beautiful Christmas tree adding to the magic, the day felt truly special. We were also lucky with the weather and sunset, and collaborating with an incredible videographer made the day even more memorable. Having the right photographer-videographer team is crucial, and we worked seamlessly together to capture beautiful portraits and candid moments, ensuring Sammie and Austin had an amazing time.
One standout feature of Crowcombe Court is its bar and dance floor. It has the vibe of a chic nightclub, adding fun and relaxation to the festivities. The vibrant atmosphere kept everyone dancing and created unforgettable memories.
Being part of such a memorable day is an honor as a photographer. I'm grateful to have captured the love and happiness shared by Sammie, Austin, and their loved ones. 😊

What was the most memorable moment from your wedding day ?
Our first dance. We decided to have dance lessons before the big day as we both have two left feet so had a choreographed dance to our favourite song… It also meant that two weeks before the wedding we had a lovely pre-wedding date night where we learnt the dance and had the best time! Amanda from Southwest Dance Parties was our amazing dance teacher and we cannot recommend her enough, she made us feel super relaxed throughout!
What did you love about location you got married ?
Our venue, Crowcombe Court, is in the heart of the Quantock Hills, so close to our home… growing up we both explored around our local areas and to get married somewhere that we see so often makes it so special to us… Also seeing the wild deer roaming the grounds on our wedding day was so special!!
They had a massive Christmas tree set up next to the log fire which set the atmosphere of the day - it really was so magical and Christmassy!
Any tips, recommendations for newly engaged couples when organising wedding ?
Book things as early as possible to secure the vendors that you want, we booked everything as soon as we set out hearts on it so we didn’t get disappointed…
and take your budget with a HUGEEEE pinch of salt, we spent almost double our original budget but honestly, you just make it work so don’t worry too much and enjoy the planning!
What would you do differently when organising your wedding ?
We wish we had hired a venue designer to set up on the morning of the wedding as the build up to the day was a little stressful to say the least! We had a lot of DIY décor to set up and not enough hands however we had some angels who came in and saved the day and we couldn’t be more thankful for them - our day would not have been possible without our amazing friends and family who helped us set up the morning of the wedding!
What was the most hardest or challenging when organising your wedding ?
The guest list and table plan! Lots of people say this is the hardest part of planning and it’s so so true!
What apps /tools you used to organise wedding ? Was it helpful?
Excel was my best friend! We made spreadsheets for the guest list, RSVP responses, food choices and budget tracker… it allowed us to keep on top of everything alongside our already busy lives
And also, Bridebook for their countdown/checklist guide. This allowed us to make sure we were keeping on track with everything we needed to get done
