Barcelona Destination Wedding Photographer
for UK & International Couples
Barcelona is one of those vibrant European cities full of rich culture, sunshine, and flamenco music. With its historic streets, warm Mediterranean light, and beautiful architecture, it’s a place where people naturally slow down and enjoy the moment. For couples travelling from the UK, the US or Canada, Barcelona is a wonderful place for a destination wedding. The city offers beautiful historic venues, incredible food, and the feeling of a relaxed European celebration shared with your closest friends and family.

My Approach to Photographing Destination Weddings in Barcelona
I usually arrive two days before the wedding. This gives me time to explore the area around your venue, walk through nearby streets, and scout beautiful locations for your couple portraits. Barcelona has so many lovely spots for photos — historic streets, quiet courtyards, beach , and beautiful views across the city. Arriving early means I can find locations that work well for your timeline and the light on the day. If you are already in Barcelona before the wedding, we can also meet for coffee . It’s a nice way for us to connect in person and talk through the plans for your day.And of course if you are in the UK we can meet here before the flight . Many couples also like to include an extra couple session around the city, either before or after the wedding day. This can be:
• a pre-wedding session exploring Barcelona together
• a post-wedding couple session . These sessions are very relaxed — often just walking through the city together while I photograph natural moments along the way. It’s also a lovely opportunity to create beautiful portraits in some of Barcelona’s most iconic locations or hidden streets.
Why So Many Couples Choose Barcelona for Their Destination Wedding
Many couples choose Barcelona because it’s easy for guests to travel to. Barcelona–El Prat Airport has direct flights from many UK cities including London, Bristol, Manchester, and Edinburgh, as well as international flights from the US and Canada. From the airport, it usually takes 20–30 minutes to reach the city centre by taxi, train, or airport bus.
The weather is also one of the reasons couples love Barcelona. Spring and autumn are especially lovely for weddings, with warm temperatures and beautiful soft light for photographs.
Many couples turn their wedding into a relaxed long weekend with their friends and family. Guests arrive, explore the city, enjoy amazing food together, and then celebrate the wedding in a relaxed way.
Some of the things couples love about getting married in Barcelona:
• beautiful historic streets and architecture
• rooftop terraces with incredible city views
• warm Mediterranean weather & beach
• fantastic Spanish food and wine
• a relaxed destination atmosphere where guests can easy move around the city using taxis, metro, or simply walking between neighbourhoods.
Barcelona also offers many beautiful locations for portraits within a short distance. The historic streets of the Gothic Quarter are full of character and beautiful textures, the gardens and fountains of Parc de la Ciutadella. For wonderful views across the city, the hills and gardens around Montjuïc are also beautiful, especially towards sunset.
Barcelona works especially well for intimate weddings with around 20–50 guests, where couples can celebrate in a beautiful setting and spend quality time with the people closest to them.
Best Time of Year for a Barcelona Destination Wedding
Barcelona has a lovely Mediterranean climate, which makes it a beautiful place for weddings for much of the year. The city enjoys plenty of sunshine, mild winters, and warm evenings that are perfect for outdoor weddings and elopements.
Spring (March – May)
Spring is one of the best times to get married in Barcelona. Temperatures are comfortable, usually between 16–23°C. Spring weddings are ideal for couples who want pleasant weather without the heat of summer.
Summer (June – August)
Summer in Barcelona is vibrant and full of energy. Temperatures often reach 28–32°C, and the city stays lively late into the evening.
Many couples love summer weddings because they can plan:
• rooftop celebrations
• sunset dinners outdoors
• evening drinks overlooking the city
However, midday can be quite hot, so many weddings are planned later in the day.
Autumn (September – November)
Autumn is another wonderful season for destination weddings. The weather is still warm, usually around 20–26°C, but the summer crowds begin to calm down.
Many couples feel this is the perfect balance between good weather and a relaxed atmosphere.
Winter (December – February)
Winter weddings in Barcelona can be surprisingly lovely. Temperatures are usually mild compared to northern Europe, often around 12–16°C during the day. The city is quieter, which can make it perfect for intimate weddings or elopements.
Many destination weddings in Barcelona take place in spring or early autumn, when the weather is warm but comfortable and the city feels less crowded. This can make the whole celebration feel more relaxed for both you and your guests.
